About Nate Nelson

I’m Nate Nelson, an undergraduate student at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio (the town I lovingly call the Rust Belt Berkeley). I’m a Republican by party and a classical liberal by ideology. What’s a classical liberal, you say? Well, I don’t know that there’s one absolute definiton. For me, being a classical liberal means that I am fiscally conservative, socially libertarian, and a realist when it comes to matters of foreign policy.

Classical liberalism shouldn’t be confused with modern liberalism; actually, a classical liberal is far closer to conservative and libertarian thought than to modern liberalism. With conservatives, a classical liberal shares a passion for limited government, reduced spending, low taxes, free markets, and time-honored national traditions. Libertarians and classical liberals have in common a live and let live philosophy regarding social issues, with a healthy respect for individual freedom and a corresponding personal responsibility. In matters of foreign policy, classical liberals take a realist approach — which is to say that we believe in a strong but restrained foreign policy that is concerned primarily with the American national interest.

I can’t emphasize this enough. For the love of God, don’t call me a “moderate” or a “centrist.” There will be blood.

If you’d like to get in touch with me, feel free to leave a comment on this blog or e-mail me. You can also follow me on Twitter. Fair warning, though: All correspondence is bloggable unless you specifically request otherwise. And in cases of extreme hate mail (the definition of which is left to my discretion) I reserve the right to publish it whether you like it or not.

Welcome to Nate, Uncensored — bringing the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy to Southeastern Ohio since 2009.
